Opening Note : This write-up in installments, is intended to drive home the sole point, hitherto ignored by the historians with utter impunity, that Ramayan and Mahabharat periods were only couple of years apart, almost extending into each other. The study is based on the evidences from 18 Mahapuranas and 18 Uppuranas, along with other Ancient Indian scriptures. Here is the list of at least 106 notable personalities who were alive and present in these two epic periods and even beyond and prior to these periods.  I am confident that one day this truth will have to be accepted by savants of history and general public interested in the study of Ancient India.

Here is Ashwani Kumars, one among 116 mortals, who found frequent references in the texts of  Vedas, Puranas and great epic, Mahabharat. A careful, meticulous and sincere study of these ancient literary composition reveals that most of such notables not merely find references in, but they actively interacted with the other people living through periods of Vedas, Ramayan & Mahabharat.

6. Ashwani Kumars—Kumars were sons of Kashyap through Aditi and included in the list of 33 Vedic gods. Through these twin Ashwani Kumar brothers, Nakul and Sahdev were born to Madri, the second wife of Pandu.

Indra had banned sompaan (sipping of the Yagya holy water) to the Ashwanidevas. Discontented at this, they roamed about in the forests and soon came to the neighbourhood of the ashram of Chayvan.

They restored the youth of Chayvan and with the intervention of rishi they gained their right to drink somrasa.[1]

They created Maind and Dvivid, the two forceful and famous vanar who participated in war of Shri Ram against Ravan.[2] They accompanied Indra in fight against Ravan.[3]

Once Gautam rishi was lost in a desert and craved bitterly for drinking water. He prayed to the Ashwanidevas for water and they dug a well itself in the desert quenching the thirst of the sage.[4]

The Ashwanidevas were present on the marriage of Panchali (Draupadi).[5]

During the burning of the Khandav forest the Ashwanidevas, with their curative and medicinal herbs ready, stood against the side of Arjun and Shri Krishan.[6]
